Lisa Gungor

If you ever have the chance to have Lisa Gungor, singer/songwriter from Michigan, sit down at the piano to play you her music, you may need to keep some tissues handy. Her debut cd, “Canvas”, was co-produced by Israel Houghton, Lisa’s husband Michael, and Danny Duncan. From the surprising a cappella opening on “Take my Life” to the majestic, larger-than-life “Come Lord”, “Canvas” is an attention-keeping and truly moving musical experience.

Lisa, originally from New Mexico, grew up singing in her church and music has always been a passion for her. While her voice is obviously one of her biggest strengths, and has allowed her to sing with people like Israel Houghton and Don Moen, Lisa says, “One of my favorite things to do is write songs. I scribbled out my first song when I was12, and my mom thought it should receive a Dove Award.” Though Lisa’s first song didn’t go on to win a Dove Award, her songs are now touching thousands of people’s hearts across the country with their honest lyrics and memorable melodies.

Lisa is currently touring with her husband, Michael on the Acquire the Fire tour. In this upcoming tour, they will have the chance to lead around 250,000 people into worship. Lisa is also involved in helping lead worship at her home church in Michigan. Lisa describes herself on her website (lisagungor.com), “I love traveling with our band, singing, playing piano, painting, designing, talking, friendships, watching Arrested Development, and dancing around the house like a crazy person – we do that a lot.” Lisa’s heart is clearly summed up in her song “The Big and the Small”. “In the big and the small, let it all bring glory to You.”
