KATRINA

I’ve been here at work flipping through the newspaper looking at all the damage Katrina has caused to the Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama areas. My prayers go out to all those that were affected by this storm. I can only begin to imagine what those people are going through. To see the city of New Orleans underwater, it really makes my own problems seem insignificant. So I wanted to start off this column asking you all to say a prayer for them and help out in any way you can.

I can only sit back and begin to wonder what is really going on in this world today. Over the past few years we’ve seen some of the most awful catastrophes. It doesn’t take a scientist to tell you that there have been some pretty crazy storms happening. I’m not a theologian, but when I see some of the things that have been going on, I know that there has to be a spiritual connection to the weather conditions.

Once again, I didn’t want to bring a hard message. I wanted to come this week with something uplifting and something to get you going throughout the week, but I am called to write what God has me to write, so I pray you read with an open heart.

WE ARE LIVING IN THE LAST DAYS!!!

I SEE FLOODS AND HURRICANES AND EARTHQUAKES. (Matt 24:7-8)

I SEE FEAR AND TERROR ALL AROUND. (Luke 21:26)

I SEE PEOPLE TRAVELING TO AND FRO. (Daniel 12:4)

I SEE KNOWLEDGE INCREASING. (Daniel 12:4)

I SEE FALSE PROPHETS TWISTING THE WORD OF GOD. (2 Peter 2:1-3)

I SEE WARS AND RUMOURS OF WARS BREAKING OUT. (Luke 21:9; Mark 13:7-8)

I SEE DEAD PEOPLE WALKING AROUND LIKE REGULAR PEOPLE

….OK I’m joking on the last one, but I can honestly say that I see all of the others just flipping through the pages of today’s newspaper.

You might think I’m crazy. You might think I’m just one of those fanatical people that will say anything to scare people to Jesus. But come on, you all know me, well those that have been reading my column for awhile anyways. I’m a pretty laid back type person. I’m not the type of person to be screaming from a box in the middle of the city with a big fat belly with a tattoo of Jesus Saves written on it (if you know the song, you know what I’m talking about). But I believe that God has been trying to get our attention for some time now.

I wrote last week that God is calling His church towards Holiness. Now, more than ever before, we need to draw closer to Him. Jesus could come back for His bride at any time. Are you right with Him? I get scared sometimes when I think about that. I know I have my shortcomings and failures and I don’t want to be left behind. I don’t want to be in front of Jesus at the end and have Him say “I never knew you.” I’ve thought it through a million times what I would say, “But God, I wrote a column in Your Name. I played music in Your Name. I did this or did that.” Doesn’t that sound a lot like the scripture, though? (Matthew 7:22)

It’s not about doing things for God. It’s not about what God can do for us. It’s about what He has already done for us. It’s about recognizing that He died on a cross for our sins. It’s about knowing Him and having a personal relationship with Him. That’s why I believe it’s so important for us to “Put Him First” in everything we do. I know I say that all the time, and I’ll continue to say it because that is the message God has called us to bring through this website. He needs to be our number one focus. He needs to be our number one source.

In closing out the column this week, I wanted to leave you with an encouraging word. We are about to experience the greatest revival that has ever swept this earth. The Bible says that He won’t return until the Gospel is preached throughout the whole world. We are getting ready to see this take place. God is about to bring many to salvation. He is saying, “LOOK UP FOR THE HARVEST IS RIPE.” I truly believe that.

It’s not going to be the same type of revival we’re used to, though. It’s not going to be an evangelist who comes in and stirs up the congregation and then leaves. It’s not going to be a healing crusade. It’s not going to be a financial revival. It’s not going to be an emotional service where everyone breaks out laughing or crying. It’s not going to be a big production, with lights and sounds. It’s not going to be like anything we’ve seen before.

The revival about to take place is going to be about “SOULS BEING SAVED!!!!” Millions will accept Christ in their hearts. Millions will come to know Jesus as their personal Savior. Millions will turn away from sin and devote their lives to God. The great commission will be fulfilled. The gospel will be preached to the uttermost parts of the earth.

Like I said before, I believe God has been trying to get our attention. He wants us to realize what’s most important, and that is winning souls to Him. Time is short.

“Do you not say, ‘Four months more and then the harvest’? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest. Even now the reaper draws his wages, even now he harvests the crop for eternal life, so that the sower and the reaper may be glad together. Thus the saying ‘One sows and another reaps’ is true. I sent you to reap what you have not worked for. Others have done the hard work, and you have reaped the benefits of their labor” (John 4:35-38).
