YOU’RE RIGHT THERE!!!!
I’ve been reading the Old Testament to start off the year. My goal is to read through the whole Bible, from beginning to end, in the next couple months. I haven’t done that in a while, so at the start of the year I decided to make it my New Year’s resolution.
I’ve always been amazed by the stories and the people in the Old Testament. I was reading about Moses and the children of Israel the other day. God performed so many miracles in their lives. When God was bringing them out of Egypt He did many great wonders, but still yet, I don’t think they ever came to the realization about what kind of God they were serving.
The plagues were all finished and Pharaoh had finally let the people go. Here they were, camped at the Red Sea, celebrating their exodus and awaiting word from Moses and God about what to do next. Then, in the distance, they saw Pharaoh’s army coming to attack them.
In our Christian walks, we face many trials and tests. God has done so much for us and even though we don’t deserve it, He always comes through, even when we think there is no possible way. I know time after time in my own life He has always been there to provide for my needs, to rescue me from my adversaries and to comfort me when I’m hurting, and on and on and on.
I can’t get over how the Israelites failed to realize what an awesome God they served. He took them out of slavery, put plagues upon the Egyptians and then after all He had done for them, they thought they were going to die by Pharaoh’s hand. As I was reading the story, I felt like screaming at them, “DON’T YOU GET IT?”
But then I look at my own life and have to point the finger right back at myself. How many times do I whine and complain to God about situations in my own life? How many times do I say, “God, where are You?” Do I not have faith that He can save me like He saved the Israelites?
God has once again brought us to a place where we have to trust in Him. He’s saying “YOU’RE RIGHT THERE!!! All you have to do is take that next step. YOU’RE RIGHT THERE on the brink of a miracle. Though your enemies are attacking from one side and there’s a huge body of water on the other, I have already made a way out for you.”
God is trying to tell you that He has brought you this far. Why would He bring you to this point just to let you die? You’re right on the verge of a breakthrough. YOU’RE RIGHT THERE!!! You can do one of two things: 1) whine and complain about your situation, or 2) trust that God is about to do a miracle in your life.
Too many times we forget all what God has already done in our lives. If He did it before, He can do it again. He’s the same yesterday, today and forever. If He did it for Moses and the children of Israel, He can do it for you.
God delivered the Israelites from Pharaoh and his army, but the Israelites would come to another “Body of Water” in their lives. They were at the Jordan, ready to crossover and inherit the Promised Land, but they got reports that the people of the land were giants and that they lived in gated cities and once again they whined and complained. They refused to go into the land.
Here was a people who’s God had delivered them out of slavery, parted the Red Sea, struck Pharaoh and his great army, fed them with manna, went before them in a cloud by day and fire by night, and they were afraid like cowards. Had they not learned that the God they served was greater than any other? That whole generation would end up perishing in the wilderness because they didn’t have faith in God to defeat their enemies. God had to raise up another generation to conquer the Promised Land.
That brings us to our lives today. God has so much He wants to do through you. I believe a lot of us are at a turning point, a crossroad in our lives where we have to decide if we are going to crossover into that Promised Land that God’s calling us to, or if we’re going to stay in the same wilderness that we’ve been stuck in.
“YOU’RE RIGHT THERE!!!” Won’t you crossover with me into the Promised Land? God’s telling us, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go” (Joshua 1:9). That same God that was with Moses and Joshua is the same God that is with us today!!!
I love you all and you are continually in my prayers.
w/muchluv, geno
