CALL ON HIS NAME

I wrote a song a couple of years ago for a sister in my church, Jennifer (Lopez) Bargas, called “thru to you”. We’ve been working on recording it and getting it ready for the upcoming PutHimFirst.com Compilation CD we’re planning on putting out in March/April. You’ll be hearing more about it soon.
I’ve been listening to that song over and over again. It’s stuck in my head. Jennifer does an amazing job singing it. I love the song, and not just because I wrote it, but because it reminds me of how God reached out to me. We can be stubborn sometimes and ignore God’s call in our life, but He’s always there to help us out in any situation that we are facing. He’s always trying to offer us a better life, but it’s up to us to “Call on His Name.”

I don’t know what you’re going through this week or what situation you’re facing. I don’t know what kind of background you come from or what’s really going through your mind. But I know someone who understands you completely. It’s not just coincidence that you’re reading this column this week. God has a great calling on your life. He wants to “change your world” and “give you a better life”. He wants to “free your soul” and “lead you down a different road”. He’s calling out for you to let go of those worldly desires and those ways that have you bound. It really is as simple as calling out to Him.
Jeremiah 33:3 says, “Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.”
Matthew 7:8 says, “For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.”
2 Chronicles 7:14 says, “if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
He’s right there waiting, with open arms ready to meet you in your darkest situation. It doesn’t matter how many times you’ve messed up, He still loves you. I don’t know who this column is for this week, but I believe that God is calling out to you. Will you listen to His voice? Will you turn from your wicked ways, humble yourself and pray? It’s up to you, just CALL ON HIS NAME!
