Mud
Me and my bro Gabe were coming home from an outing with our Bible Study the other night and we just started talking about our life and our walk with Christ. We were both saying that we weren’t satisfied with where we were at. We talked about how church and activities weren’t enough. It was just one of those talks where we were both searching for more.
We decided to go home that night and get into prayer. We started reminiscing on how God moved so great in our lives when we fasted earlier in the year. During that time we were praying together every morning. We had many great breakthroughs during that time. After the fast we started skipping a day here and there of praying in the morning. That day turned to weeks and then to months and we kind of just let that prayer time disappear.
I know God put me and my bro together to do a work for Him. It wasn’t that I abandoned my prayer life completely. It was just that me and my bro stopped praying together. There’s power in numbers. The Bible says that when two or three are gathered in His Name, that He is in the midst (Matthew 18:20). That night it was like a breath of fresh air. God really did something to stir us up. We’ve started praying together again every morning and we’re expecting God to move.
God’s been dealing with me in a lot of areas of my life. I’ve had to reevaluate some of the ways I spend my time. Why? Because I believe that God is taking me to another level in my walk with Him. We had a speaker at our church Friday night who we call Prophet Joe, because he always brings prophetic messages. He was talking about repenting, turning away from our old ways and our old mentality. He was saying that there is no more time for playing games.
That’s where I’m at. God has challenged me to step it up in my prayer life, in my reading the Bible and in my walk in general. I spoke about “Delays” last week and God was showing me that a lot of the time delays are self-imposed. He wants to use us and bless us and move in us but sometimes He can’t because we won’t let Him. We hold on to the ways of the world instead of letting go and giving them to God. You can’t receive if your hand is clenched close. Until you let go of what you’re holding onto, God can’t pour more into your life. God can’t show you what direction to move in if you’re not seeking Him for direction. If you’re not reading the Word, how are you to know God’s plan for your life? If you’re not praying, how is God going to speak to you?
You can’t move forward if you’re always looking back. The Prophet was talking about how many Christians are walking in mud. Have you ever tried to walk in mud? It sticks to your shoes and makes your steps heavy. It slows you down. It gets everything all dirty and takes time to clean up after that mess.
God has not called us to drag our feet. He’s calling out to us to let go of that sin that’s holding us back. The Prophet said something that really got my attention. He said that many Christians were going to fall behind because they keep walking in that mud. He was saying that the church is moving forward with or without you. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to be left behind. I want to run that race to win. You can’t run in mud.
Whatever it is that is keeping you from fulfilling your promise, LET IT GO! That “secret sin” that’s keeping you in misery, Repent from it and don’t go back to it. There is VICTORY in Christ Jesus. You can live a clean and holy life. You can live free from the bondages of sin. Take off those shoes, let God clean off the mud and start walking on that higher ground. Start following that path He’s called you to walk on.
