Two Years!!!
Tomorrow, April 13th, is our official Two Year Anniversary here at PutHimFirst.com. We are greatly humbled and honored to serve in this ministry that God has birthed. Two years ago He challenged us to “Put Him First” in everything we do and to reach out to others with that same message and we’ve been trying everyday to follow through with that. We’re excited about what God is going to do through this ministry. He has already done so much and I believe that this is just the beginning
We would like to thank all of you who visit this website from week to week. We want to thank all of our users/friends and all of you that post on our site. We appreciate you all so much. And I personally want to thank all of you who faithfully read geno’s column. Thank you for putting up with my rambling (and sometimes long columns) and for looking beyond my words to understand what God is trying to speak each week.
We are constantly in prayer that God would touch and bless your life through PutHimFirst.com. We continue to lift up all the prayer requests we get through email or on our “Prayer Requests” message board. Feel free to email me or my brother Gabe anytime and we will always try to get back to you ASAP (geno@puthimfirst.com or gabe@puthimfirst.com).
I’ll try and keep it short this week (I said try). I wanted to take a few moments to talk about Easter. My Pastor’s wife, Sister Irma, calls this holiday, “Christian’s Super Bowl.” It is the biggest celebration we as Christians have each year. It’s the day we remember Christ’s resurrection. It’s the basis of our Christian faith. Without Christ’s death and resurrection, we would have no Christianity. It’s the foundation of everything we believe in.
Salvation only comes through the precious blood of Jesus. His sacrifice gives us life. He conquered Death and Hades on the cross. He made a way for us to have communion with God. The veil was torn in two and the time has come that we are able to worship Him in Spirit and in Truth. We no longer need a priest to go before God for us. We no longer need the blood of goats and lambs to cover our sins. We can go straight to the Source. Jesus Christ of Nazareth died and rose on the third day so that we may have eternal life.
He took the weight of the world and put it on His shoulders. He took our sins upon His back. He was bruised and beaten for our transgressions. Even now as I’m writing this, I’m holding back tears. God loved me so much that He sent His Son to die for a sinner like me. I don’t even deserve to eat the bread crumbs that fall from His table, yet He asks me to come and dine with Him at His Father’s table. I don’t even deserve to set eyes on Him from afar, yet He calls me to draw close to Him. I don’t even deserve to be an acquaintance, yet He calls me friend. I am so grateful for all that He has done for me.
As much as I love those Cadbury Eggs, they will never fulfill me. Candy and bunnies and eggs are fun, but only Christ brings true sustenance. No bunny is going to save me from my sins. We may seek and find many colored eggs, but will we seek and find Him this Easter?
Let’s make time this Easter to focus on our Savior and remember what He has done for us. Truly if there was ever a time to “Put Him First”, this is the time. God Bless you all and HAVE A HAPPY EASTER!!!!!
w/muchluv, geno
