Surrender

Wow! What an awesome thing God is doing. I can say nothing else than that I am truly blessed. As many of you know, I have been out of town this past week, so this is a special Raton edition of geno’s column (Raton, New Mexico my hometown where I grew up for those that don’t know). Me, my bro Gabe, CRS and Ganksta Loc drove to Albuquerque on Friday and threw a concert at Victory Outreach Albuquerque where God moved in a powerful way. Then on Sunday morning Pastor Danny Sanchez asked us to do a special and CRS sang “all i want is more of You” while I played guitar. Pastor Danny loved the song so much he asked us to go up and sing it again for altar call. I was blown away. God is so good to me.

I wrote that song “all i want is more of You” about 5 years ago. That song is the one that means the most to me. I can remember when we first started working on the CRS album. One day when we were hanging out, my boy Chris (CRS) asked me if he could use that song on the CD. To tell you the truth, I really didn’t want to let him. That was my song. I had plans to use it on my own album (and still do). That was going to be my big hit, so to say. Sometimes it’s hard when God asks you to give up something you love. It wasn’t really Chris asking me, it was God testing my heart.

My boy Chris is anointed. He has an awesome voice and a heart for worship (and I’m not just saying that because he’s on my record label). I know God has called him to do great things. I am so glad that I didn’t let my pride get in the way and I let him use that song. It’s the perfect altar call song and it really ministers to people. The past few concerts we’ve done, I’ve seen people broken at the altars, just worshiping God and really surrendering all to Him.

“and i abandon all to You
for i don’t want this life anymore
and i surrender all to You
for all i want is more of You

all i want is more of You (more of You)
all i want is more of You (Jesus)
all i want is more of You (more of you)
and all I want is more of You

more of You, and less of me
i lay it all at Your feet
surrendering, everything
offering all of me...to You”

I remember the day we got in the studio and recorded that song. After we had finished, we went over to our Pastor’s house to show him the song. As we were listening to it, I was just broken, amazed and grateful to God for just giving me the chance to record something. That sense of accomplishment, knowing that you’ve done something for God, is the best feeling in the world. Hearing those words, “Well done, my good and faithful servant” and being a sweet aroma to God up above is what we strive for as Christians.

I was playing guitar and Chris was singing during the altar call on Sunday and as the service was ending, Pastor Danny asked us if their worship team could use that song to sing during their services. Of course I said yes. God gave me that promise a long, long time ago. He told me that my songs would be sung in churches all over the world. I say this not out of pride, but in great humbleness, because I know I don’t deserve any of this. But I also say this to encourage you. If God can use a shy kid from a small town like me to do great things, then He can also use you.

God wants to give you the desires of your heart. We serve a good God. A God that wants to see you prosper. A God that wants you to fulfill that call on your life. A God that loves you so very much. No matter where you are at or what you are struggling with, God always has you on His mind. He has great plans for your life.

It’s when we do abandon all to Him that He is able to start putting us in position to accomplish the task that He’s put ahead of us. Surrender it all to Him today so when that time comes He will say to you, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.”

w/muchluv,
geno
