FEAR NOT

Well yesterday, 6/6/06, came and went and all hell didn’t break loose so it looks like everything is going to be alright. I was hoping that the rapture might happen so I could go be with my Jesus, but I guess I’ll have to wait just a little bit longer. Yesterday was a crazy day. I heard stories of pregnant mothers trying to squeeze out their babies early or hold off an extra day so that their children wouldn’t have to live with the idea that they were born on 6/6/06. I also heard someone refer to the day as the satanic millennium.

As for me, I found it quite weird writing the date over and over again. I have to date all my work at my job, so the whole night was kind of freaky. Even when I took my lunch break in the middle of the night, the moon was low in the sky and a strange red and orange color. It gave me the chills. Now, I’m not at all superstitious or anything like that, but I really want nothing to do with anything that associates itself with the devil. So don’t expect to ever see me with a tattoo of 666 on my forehead.

While many people were walking around fearful of what was going to happen yesterday, I slept soundly throughout the day. I started off yesterday kind of different. We had worship practice on Tuesday morning for the first time. When I got to the church, my worship leader Ernest was playing the piano and just worshiping God. I could feel the anointing as I walked into that place. Starting your day off by worshiping God is the best thing you can do. Even though the day was supposed to be an evil day, I felt closer to God like never before. Not only at the practice, but even as I got home afterwards, and then again last night at Bible Study where His presence was there.

The Bible says in 2 Timothy 1:7, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

In the world we live in today, this scripture needs to stay close to our hearts. People are afraid of everything it seems. It’s so easy to get caught up in the fear of Terrorists or the Bird Flu or Global Warming or you name it. Fear of failure. Fear of losing your job or whatever else it might be. The enemy would like nothing more than to have you bound by fear.

Luke 21:25-26 says, “And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; men’s hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.”

That scripture sounds pretty scary. Who wouldn’t be afraid when everything all around is going into chaos? That’s the great thing about our God. He loves us so much that He gives us that peace in the midst of confusion. He gives us that comfort when things all around us are in disorder. When fear tries to creep into our lives, this is what He says to us:

“Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” (Isaiah 41:10)

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9)

I feel like someone needs to hear those words this week. Maybe your day was chaotic yesterday. Maybe you’re worried about your future. Maybe you’re afraid of whatever it might be. What you need to do is cast your fears upon Christ and let Him take control. No matter what you’re going through God is always there for you. The enemy has no control over your life.

God is saying to you, “FEAR NOT” for “He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.” (1 John 4:4)
