Unity
Due to the lack of participation, and also the fact that my brother Gabe is out of town this week, we are going to postpone the CD Giveaway until next week. So those of you who haven’t signed up yet, you have a little time left to do so. Come on, it’s not that hard, and it’s a FREE CD. Just sign up as a member (membership is FREE also), and post on our Music Message Board “I want a FREE CD!!!!!” And if you already have a CD, why not try and win it for a friend.
Anyways, I hope everything is going great for you. Things are going great here in H-Town. My brother and I found an apartment to move into and we got that all situated. Now we’re looking forward to my sister Celina and Chris’s wedding. These next couple months look pretty crazy, but crazy in a good way. We’re getting ready to have our Victory Outreach South Texas Regional Conference on September 15th. I’m excited about that because our founder, Pastor Sonny Arguinzoni, will be here for the Conference. And we’re getting ready to launch a new church in Mercedes, TX towards the end of September, so it’s going to be a busy time.
This past week God kept bringing up the word “Unity” to me. My Pastor spoke an awesome message on “Unity”. With all the things we have planned as a church, we are going to have to be united in our vision and in what we are doing. Every Sunday night this month our church is “hitting the streets” as we call it, doing rallies and going to different areas of Houston preaching the gospel through music and testimonies. This past Sunday it was awesome to see a lot of the church out there participating. It seems like it’s always hard to get people out to these rallies, but we had a good sized crowd Sunday and many lives were touched.
Even in Bible Study last night we were discussing unity. As you know, I play guitar for the worship team at my church. As a band, we all must play together for it to work out. If the drummer is off beat or the guitarist is off key and the piano player is playing the wrong song and the singers are singing the wrong notes and the bass player is playing too loud, then it’s not going to sound good. But when we all play that same note together and flow together as one harmony, then we’re able to bring forth a beautiful song.
It’s the same thing in the body of Christ. If we’re all in one accord and moving the same way, then we’ll be able to accomplish what God has set before us. My Pastor was talking about finding our “Power Spots”. Not just finding a position to fill, but to find that place where God has called you to be. For example, my “Power Spots” are in music and in writing. I function best when I’m in those areas. Put me as a preacher on stage or teaching Sunday school to the kids and I don’t function quite as well. In fact, I’d probably end up strangling one of the kids (jk). It’s not that I can’t do those particular things. It’s just that God has placed a certain calling in my life, so in order for the body of Christ to work like it should, I need to be in that place God has called me to be.
1 Corinthians 12:17, 27-30 says, “If the whole body were an eye, where would be the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where would be the smelling? ... Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually. And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues. Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all workers of miracles? Do all have gifts of healings? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret?” We all have different gifts. My question to you is, “Are you where you need to be? Are you walking in that area where God has called you to be? Are you united with your brethren in Christ moving towards a common cause?” My brother Gabe and I were talking about moving in one direction here at this website and also in our record label. We want to continue to keep that vision of “Putting God First” in everything we do. We want to keep Him the center in everything we do. It’s when we all keep that in our hearts and move towards knowing Christ more that we can truly walk in “Unity”.
