This week has gotten off to kind of a rocky start. I’m excited about this concert coming up, but still at the same time a little bit nervous. It seems like there is so much to do and the time has really crept up on us, but I know God is going to work everything out and He is going to move in a powerful way this weekend. There always seems to be trials before God does something big. The enemy will try to use whatever he can to stop a work of God.
I got a call on the phone yesterday morning that I wasn’t expecting, but than again I probably should have been expecting it. My brother Gabe called me up and said his truck had broken down. What’s funny is that whenever God is about to do something in Gabe’s life, something always seems to happen to his truck. So, I hopped in my vehicle and drove over there to rescue my poor stranded little brother. When I got there to pick him up, he was sitting there in his big red truck, hood open with smoke coming from the engine and a smile on his face. We both just started laughing and said to each other, we should have expected this. I love my brother Gabe. He really is an inspiration to me. Even when he faces trials and when it seems everything and everyone is coming against him, he holds on to God’s word and puts it into practice. He puts that smile on his face and rejoices even through it all.
I don’t know what God has in store, but I know that He is about to do something. I’m ready to move forward in that calling He’s placed in my life. I’m ready to go wherever He sends me and to do whatever He calls me to do. Last week I wrote a little bit about “Direction” and I know that God has already gone before me and made the crooked places straight. He’s gone ahead of me and has given me favor with whoever I come into contact with. He has given me Victory in advance of any opposition I might face.
I called this column “Out the Box” because I believe that God is calling each and every one of us to step outside of our comfort zone. He’s calling us to leave the confines or our normal surroundings and to go tell someone else about the gospel of Jesus Christ. Sometimes God has to give us a little shove and take us out of that box that holds us back from doing what He’s called us to do. We have to get outside the four walls if we’re going to reach people for Him.
It’s easy to get comfortable in what you’re doing and just going through the same routines from week to week. I believe God is saying to us, “Step Out the Box! Move in that calling that I’ve placed in your heart!” I don’t know about you, but I have big dreams. I serve a BIG GOD who is able to do above and beyond anything we can imagine. I truly do believe that I can make a difference in this world. I believe I can make a huge impact for the Kingdom of God, whether it be through my writing or through my music, or just in sharing God with people I come into contact with in my daily life.
“Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, ‘All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.’ Amen.” (Matthew 28:18-20)
This is “The Great Commission” that God has given to us all. I encourage you this week to step “Out the Box” and really start moving in that calling He’s placed in your life. The part I love about this scripture is that Jesus tells us to go out and preach to all nations, but He doesn’t send us out alone. He says, “I am with you always.”
Acts 1:8 says, “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
That is what we’re called to do. There’s a lost and dying world out there and we have the answer. It’s time we get “Out the Box” and make a difference. I pray that you have a Blessed week and I hope to see you out on Saturday night.
