My Mom
We want to thank everyone who came out and supported us at The PHF Compilation CD Release Party last Saturday, May 5th. We want to send out a special thanks to Jerry Davis and The Embassy Club for hosting the event. Make sure and check out Houston’s hottest new Christian venue – www.embassyclub.org. Also, we want to thank all the artists, musicians, DJs and volunteers. We are blessed and humbled at the work God is going to do through this new CD and truly grateful to everyone that has helped us along the way.
This coming Sunday is a special day. I know that I won’t be with my Mom to celebrate Mother’s Day, but I was blessed to be able to spend this past weekend with her. My family came down for the CD Release Party, so we got to enjoy being together. I love my Mom. She is so special to me. I had to laugh because she sent all five of her kids an email saying “For my presents for Mother’s day, I have several requests. Now that I am in my fifties, and I have been a wonderful mother for 29 years, I think I can put in requests. Now if they are granted???? Well that is up to you all...” I won’t put the list here, but it was quite funny, ha.
I thank God for my Mom. She has always been my Spiritual rock. She has always stood strong in her faith. She has always been there to pray for me and I’ve always been able to go to her whenever I needed her. She has always believed in me and allowed me to pursue the calling God’s placed in my life. She continues to encourage me even to this day.
Even when my Dad wasn’t serving God, my Mom continued to drag us to church. I remember traveling over the Raton Pass to Trinidad, Colorado every Sunday (about a 20 minute drive from my hometown, Raton). We’d all pitch in and scrape up a few dollars to get Tacos or Dominoes Pizza after service. My Mom knew the importance of keeping her kids in church and I believe that’s why all five of her children are serving God today. Even when we were young, I can remember my Mom reading to us from a big brown book that said “Bible Stories” on the front.
The Bible says in Proverbs 22:6, “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.”
I’ve wrote about it before, but my Mom always tells me that when I was a born she gave me up to God. On the day my parents left me in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the campus of Oral Roberts University, my Mom told me, God gave you back to me on that day and gave me 18 years with you, now He’s calling you to do His work and she let me go, trusting that God would take care of me from then on. And He has. I’ve had my struggles and mess ups along the way, but God has always watched over me and I know that my Mom’s prayers have something to do with that. God has truly blessed me with a wonderful Mom. I love her so very much and I thank God every day for her.
Mom, I LOVE YOU!!! Have a Happy Mother’s Day and I’ll try to get you everything on that list. I know I can’t be with you this Sunday, but know that you are always near to my heart.
We want to wish a HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY to all of the mothers out there. We pray that you have a blessed day on Sunday and that you continue to be that light. You make a difference in your children’s lives and your prayers are being heard by God!!!
