Out of Darkness
It’s so easy to fall back into the ways of the world. Being a Christian means choosing each day to serve Christ. We wake up every morning with the choice of deciding which side of the bed we’re going to wake up on. We can get up, fall on our knees and seek God or we can decide we don’t have time for Him today. Honestly, it’s hard sometimes. That snooze button is so tempting to push. I know I don’t always make the right decision, but I try each day to seek God, even if I’m running late somewhere. Whether it’s in the shower, while I’m getting dressed or on my way to where I’m going, I try to make it a point to give God some of my time.
In Bible Study last night my brother Aaron B. (AZA) spoke on rejoicing and being thankful to God for what He’s done for us. We then took a few minutes to jot down some things that we were grateful for and God was just showing me all that He has done for me. I can truly say that I’m grateful that God rescued me “Out of Darkness”.
There was a time in my life where I was consumed with the ways of the world. I was trapped and bound by sin. My heart was far away from God and I could no longer feel His presence. That’s when I really got scared. Being away from God is the worst feeling one can have. The backslider is the most miserable person in the world because he once felt God’s presence. He once knew God personally and now is found living a life of misery. I was that person, but I am so grateful that God saved me. He restored me. He gave me life again. I no longer have to live in fear. I no longer have to walk in sin. I still fall and slip at times, but God continues to show me His grace anew each day.
Colossians 1:13-14 says “He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.”
While we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8). I cannot explain the love He has for each and every one of us. It reaches deeper than any ocean and higher than any mountain. He is all knowing, all powerful, all loving. His grace is sufficient for me (2 Corinthians 12:9). His love is more than enough. It’s a wonderful thing knowing that we serve a God who forgives whatever we have done in the past. No matter what we’ve done, He still loves us. The Bible says that His love covers a multitude of sins (1 Peter 4:8).
1 Peter 2:9 says, “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.”
God has chosen you and He’s calling out to you right now. Maybe you haven’t accepted Jesus into your heart. Around 2000 years ago God sent His only Son Jesus to die on the cross at Calvary. He took the weight of the world on His shoulders and died for us so that in turn we might have eternal life. I don’t know your situation or what you’re going through right now, but I know a God that does. He wants to take you in His arms and touch you right where you are at. He wants to rescue you from that sin that has you bound. He wants to give you life and life more abundantly. He wants to take you “Out of Darkness” and into His marvelous light.
Jeremiah 33:3 says, “Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.”
Acts 2:21 says, “And it shall come to pass that whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
Romans 10:9-10 says, “That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
Romans 10:13 says, “For whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved”
If you’re hurting, I know a God that can ease your pain. If you’re struggling, I know a God that can give you victory. If you’re sick, I know a God that can heal you. If you’re lost, I know a God that can give you direction. Whatever you are facing, I know a God that can give you exactly what you need. All you have to do is call out to Him today.
If you want Jesus to come into your life just say, “Dear God, I love you. I’m sorry for the life that I’m living. Remove from me all the guilt and shame. Forgive me for my sins. I believe Jesus died on the cross for a sinner like me. I believe He rose again so that I may have life. Come into my heart. Make me new. I give my life to you this day. In Jesus Name, Amen.”
If you said that prayer, know that you are set free and you are a new creation in Christ Jesus. You are now a child of God for He has rescued you “Out of Darkness.”
