New Strings

I’m excited about what God is doing in my life. I feel like I’ve turned over a new leaf, and not just because fall is approaching, ha. Over the last few weeks God has really been working on me in different areas of my life. I’ve been trying to pray more and read more and worship more and really just seek Him more. I really do believe that I’m moving forward and growing in Him. God’s really been reminding about those promises He’s given me. He’s been showing me areas I need to work on and areas I need to improve on. I kind of feel like He’s given me a new start and a fresh go at it to really do what He’s called me to do.

Yesterday morning when I woke up I decided I was going to put new strings on my guitar. I’ve been meaning to do that for awhile now. A couple of strings were what you call “dead strings”, where you can tune them and it sounds alright, but they just don’t have that same vibrant sound that they should. So, I pulled out my guitar, got together the tools I needed for changing the strings, removed the old ones and threw them away, and began to put the new ones on.

I’ve been playing guitar for about nine years now so I kind of know when I need a new set of strings. Guitar strings don’t last forever. Sometimes they break. Sometimes they just become old and “dead”. They do need to be changed every once in awhile. One thing about putting on new strings is that once you put them on, you have to tune up your guitar. It takes a little while to get it to sound just right, and even once you get your guitar tuned up, the guitar won’t stay tuned right away. It takes a few days of playing for the new strings to set in.

Sometimes in our walk with God we need a new start or a fresh touch from God. We kind of get out of tune with Him or something breaks in our lives. We find ourselves “dead” and unmotivated. We can even still be serving God and doing the work of God but we lose that focus that we used to have. We lose that fire that once burned bright. We find ourselves going through the motions instead of truly living the way God wants us to.

Sometimes we need a conference or a revival to stir us up. Sometimes we need to fast and set aside time strictly to get close to God. Sometimes we need fellowship with other believers to pick us up or motivate us. And sometimes we need to just reprioritize our life and find out what’s not right and change it.

I think once in awhile we have to go to God and let Him change the strings in our lives. He needs to remove the old ones, put on new ones and tune us up. Once He changes those old strings doesn’t mean we’re going to walk around with no problems though. We have to continually go to God so He can keep us aligned with His will. I tune my guitar pretty much every time before I play it. We need to go to God before we start our every day.

Do you need a touch from God? Do you need a fresh anointing? Do you need a new start?
God wants to give you all of that. He wants you to stay fresh and on the cutting edge. He wants to see you live a productive and successful life. It’s up to us if we’re going to “Put Him First” and let Him give us those “New Strings”.

Are you walking around with old strings? Let God change them today!!!
