Forever Grateful
It’s that time of year again. Thanksgiving is a week away and I’m super excited for TURKEY!!!!!!!!!!!! Mmmmmmmmmm, Turkey. But I’m also excited because my niece, Trinity, is coming to visit me here in Houston this year. Oh yeah, and her parents are coming too. (Can’t wait to see you Dre and Sio). So it should be lots of fun playing with Trinity, grubbing on some food and watching Gabe and Dre wrestle over the last turkey leg, ha.
This season always reminds me to take a step back and reflect on the goodness of God. He’s done so much for me. I can’t even begin to express how thankful I am for His grace and His mercy. He’s blessed me with so much when I don’t deserve anything at all. I think about my family, my friends, my church, the music God blessed me with, this website, and I can go on and on, but it all goes back to what a good God He is.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)
I know this is a familiar scripture. We use it all the time, but it sums up everything we are as Christians. It’s our hope. It’s our answer. It’s the reason we are able to live a victorious life. Jesus died for us. When you really think of all our Savior had to go through for us, it humbles you. How could you not be grateful?
1 Thessalonians 5:18 says, “In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
That gratefulness is what keeps you going in your walk with God. We are never to forget what He did for us on that cross. We can’t forget the life He brought us out of. Everyday should be a day of thanksgiving. We should wake up every morning and thank God for giving us another day to live and another breath to breathe.
I know I take for granted sometimes what I have. I have a roof over my head. I have never gone without food. I have a good job. I have a family that loves me and friends that care for me. I’m part of an awesome church, Victory Outreach Houston. I’m blessed with the opportunity to play guitar for God, to write songs and columns for Him. When I pray, I always begin with thanking God for who He is and what He’s done for me.
Psalm 37:25 says, “I have been young, and now am old; yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his descendants begging bread.”
Take the time to think about all God’s done for you this year. I know many of us have had hard times, lost loved ones, been through struggles, but God is still good. No matter what has come your way this past year, God still has His hand upon your life. I believe that you’re alive today because God still has that plan for your life. He loves you so much and wants to begin a new work in you. Stay grateful and God will use you like never before.
Thank You, God, for saving me from a life of sin. Thank You for rescuing me from the pit of darkness. Thank You for delivering me from a life of shame. I’ll never know how much it cost to see my sin upon the cross. I am “Forever Grateful” to you.
w/muchluv, geno
