What’s Next?
I’ve been at a point of wondering that same exact question, “What’s Next?” This first month of 2008 is already over and I’m still trying to get a grasp on what I need to do this year. I have some personal goals, but I know that there’s something more. I don’t want this year to be the same as last year. God has too much in store for me to squander my time.
I’ve done a lot of introspecting in the column this year so far. I’ve been praying and asking God what direction He wants to take my writing. I don’t quite know for sure, but I’m trying to think of what would be most beneficial for all the people that take the time to read my column every week. I truly believe God has a plan for each and every one of you and I want to be able to inspire you to become all that God’s called you to be.
I’ve been thinking a lot about the big picture lately. I’ve been trying to get outside my own little world around me and see what God is doing around the earth. If I’m to believe that God’s called me to change the world through my writing, I have to get outside my own self struggles and focus on what the body of Christ needs in these trying times.
What’s Next? I’m not a prophet. I’m not one to tell the future, but I do see what’s happening in the world around me. Here in the U.S. our economy is slowly deteriorating. The dollar has slipped in value around the globe. In the newspapers I read of school shootings and mothers killing their own children. Wars and acts of terrorism are also in the news. We are on the verge of electing a new president, but can any of the candidates truly be trusted?
What’s Next? For the church, I’ve seen a great falling away. People are being deceived by false doctrines. A watered down gospel is being preached where everyone is looking out for self gain. People might be acknowledging that there is a God, but they are denying His power. Sunday church has become a ritual instead of a time to truly hear God’s word. God’s people have become so busy with their own lives that they don’t make time to pray or read their Bible anymore.
What’s Next? In our lives, God is challenging us to draw closer to Him this year. I have to make more of an effort myself. It’s so crucial that we all make more time for Him. “Put Him First” can’t just become another slogan. PHF can’t just be something I wear on my t-shirt. We are living in a day and age where the enemy is using every distraction he can think of to draw us away from God.
What’s Next? For you, God is tugging at your heart right now. You may have goals and plans. You many have 2008 all mapped out and you know exactly what you are going to do this year. Then again you may not. You might be scared of the future. You might not know where to go or what to do. God is saying, “Be strong and courageous for I am with you.” With everything that is going on around us, we can always trust that God is right by our side.
What’s Next? I’m excited to see what God is going to do. I really am. This is the year where He’s going to pour out His grace and mercy like never before. This is the year where miracles will happen and we will truly see the hand of God move in our lives. As we continue walking the Christian walk and fighting the good fight, let’s grab ahold of everything God has for us this year. If we do, God will give us the desires of our heart and help us fulfill those promises in our lives. Get ready for What’s Next!!!!
