 PutHimFirst.com 10 ?'s with Ganksta Loc

Ganksta Loc is an independent artist in the Houston area. He uses rap music to minister to the inner city, preach inside the prisons and tell people about God all over the world.

PHF: “Got Cora?” That’s the first question for you today, but also the title to your new album. Explain why you chose that title and what it means to you.

Ganksta Loc: Well one of my favorite scriptures is Galatians 6:9, it tells us, we shall reap a harvest if we do not lose heart, I’ve always loved it. You may have heard the saying good things in life don’t come easy. It’s the same with the things of God. You have to hold on and have heart. If you lose heart you won’t see what God has for you. To the unbeliever I’m asking if you have heart for your hood, block, gang…give it to Jesus.

PHF: Tell us a little about the new album and what fans can expect from “Got Cora?”

Ganksta Loc:: Man this album is going to be a monster!!! I have some great features from people like 007, f.o.e, s.o.m, rob.e of p.u.s.h ent. and more. I have production from d.black, beast by sadik, aza, fred beezy, classick & narrow mind! It’s such a banger for real!!!

PHF: I heard rumors there’s another baby Loc on the way. Is this true? How many other kids do you have and what’s it like being a family man?

Ganksta Loc:Yes sir! This is baby #4 and being a family man is awesome! One of the hardest things a person can do but unbelievably rewarding. I don’t think I knew the definition of love until I became responsible for another person’s life.

PHF: Give us the brief loc’d out version of your testimony?

Ganksta Loc: Born and raised in Houstone Tx. I was raised in the inner city. Had mom and pops working hard to support me, but still chose to answer the call of the wild. First a pot smoking headbanger I got involved in hustling and became a gangbanger as a teenager. Lost friends, almost lost myself and after a brief stint in the county jail, I finally came to the conclusion that I needed God in my life. He transformed my life and I haven’t been the same since 1999.

PHF: Anyone who knows anything about Ganksta Loc knows his favorite color is blue. What’s your next favorite?

Ganksta Loc: I would have to say my next favorite color is Purple which is kind of ironic since it is a mixture of blue and red.

PHF: Where did the stage name Ganksta Loc come from?

Ganksta Loc: It came from the youth ministry at Victory Outreach, they are called the God’s Anointed Now Generation (the G.A.N.G.) and I used loc as an acronym for Living Out Christianity. I used to spell my name g.a.n.gsta l.o.c but it was too much work. In 2001 I believe I became ganKsta loc. The devil ganked me now I’m gankin back!

PHF: I hear you have quite the infatuation for the Transformers. If you could be any Transformer who would you be and why?

Ganksta Loc: Hahaha I just watched part 2 on Father’s Day…again! I think I most identify w/Jetfire, the Decepticon turned Autobot. I won’t lie, I have already created my own character. I’m a Decepticon called Swangatron that transforms into a candy blue Cadillac on swangaz.

PHF: Do you still consider yourself to be a “Gangsta”?

Ganksta Loc: Well I’m definitely not a gangsta in the sense of a violent thug or criminal but I am an M.O.G!(man of God)

PHF: You’ve ministered all across the country throughout your career. Tell us about one of the times that most sticks out in your memory.

Ganksta Loc: Well one that sticks out was not even a musical performance, but it was awesome. This past September or November I was able to speak to 5,000 4th graders in the Aldine school district and encourage them with my testimony.

PHF: What do you do to start each day?

Ganksta Loc: Ouch! I thank God for another day to move and shake something up for Him. Put Him First!
